Biography

When Scott Christiansen was elected to the Winnebago County Board in 1984, little did he know that he was beginning what would become a very successful career in government. Scott's passion as a County Board member was evident as he assumed a leadership role with the Republican Caucus, serving as Majority Leader for two terms, and then with the entire County Board as part time Chairman. Additionally, he served as Chairman of the Forest Preserve Executive Committee, Chairman of the Legislative Committee and member of the Zoning and Labor Relations Committees during his 12 years on the board.

Scott was born and raised in Winnebago County. He has been active in the community as both a volunteer and as a leader. One of his strengths is that he is able to work across party lines to craft solutions to the problems facing Winnebago County. As a business owner, Scott is able to bring the business point of view to government situations, which assists him in problem-solving for the county.

Over the years, Scott has been very active in various church and charitable activities.

His business has involved him in the Rockford Chamber of Commerce, the Northern Illinois Building Contractors Association, the Association of General Contractors and the National Roofing Contractors Association. He has also served on the Home Builders Association Board of Directors.

Scott is married to Kathy and his daughter Megan and her husband Jon have a wonderful 2-year old boy named Merric. In his spare time, Scott enjoys golfing and spending time in northern Wisconsin.

During his four-year term as County Board Chairman, Scott Christiansen has proven time and time again that he is a person who knows how to "get 'er done." He is able to look at government from both a micro and a macro point of view - working to make the lives of each individual citizen better, while working to put the County on the map economically, educationally and globally. He continually works to improve the quality of life for all citizens.
